Repertoire Requirements
Each participant will be allowed 8-minutes of time for performance. Music selections must be for solo piano and repertoire must be comparable to Solo & Ensemble Class A, any genre is accepted. Original compositions and improvisations are not permitted. Repeats may be played at the discretion of the performer but are not required. Memorization is not required.
Application Procedure
- Participants must complete and submit the full application at the bottom of this page.
Registration opens March 1, 2020 Deadline is April 6, 2020 at 11:59pm CT. - A NON-REFUNDABLE application fee of $35 USD must be paid at the time of application submission.
- A confirmation message will be sent once a student’s complete application has been received. The competition manager will contact participants with further instructions regarding the audition procedure and scheduling.
Rules & Requirements
- Each participant will be allowed 8-minutes of time for performance. Music selections must be for solo piano and repertoire must be comparable to Solo & Ensemble Class A, any genre is accepted. Original compositions and improvisations are not permitted. Repeats may be played at the discretion of the performer but are not required. Memorization is not required.
- Judges reserve the right to cut off performance at their discretion.
- All applicants should bring legally printed hard copies of their sheet music with minimal markings for the judges.
- Students, teachers, parents, and audience members should not approach the judges for any reason before, during or after the competition.
- Assigned audition slots are final. Rescheduling requests are left to the discretion of Madison Piano Place, LLC/MYSA. If a competitor misses his or her turn, he or she will have forfeited his or her chance to participate (no refunds will be offered).
- Competitors are responsible for their own expenses to participate in the competition, including the cost of their travel.
- Contestants should wear their best performance attire.
- Age requirements apply to applicant’s age as of April 6, 2020.
- Students are only allowed to participate in one audition time slot.
- Evaluations for each performance made by the judges are final.
- Madison Piano Place, LLC/MYSA reserves the right to photograph, record, or video the auditions of the contestants and winners and to use these documents for marketing purposes. No extra fee will be paid to the contestants.
- Madison Piano Place, LLC/MYSA reserves the right to the interpretation of the Terms and Conditions of the Regulations.
